If that gives you enough reason to settle more semi-permanently, with a pied-à-terre in your home country for part of the year, that can be a good intermediate solution which combines the best of both worlds.
And if you would like to settle permanently, consider from the beginning the options of also investing in, for example, a permanent guest house on an idyllic place nearby, where you can receive friends and family with appropriate privacy. Further, be active in building a new local social network precisely to give it the buzz needed to make a more permanent stay truly enjoyable.
